The Smokey Mountains lit up with sparks during the first annual Scrapin’ the Smokies, which was presented by Mr. Scrape Customs on August 26th-27th. The show was held at The Blue Ridge Mall in Hendersonville, NC. The Parking lot quickly filled up with a ton of trucks that touched the sky or drug the ground, but also included a few cars into the mix. The day started off cool, but quickly turned into a scorcher, but the heat didn’t seem as bad with the musical entertainment that was provided throughout the day.
The judging was an all day process due to such a good turn-out, but day quickly turned to night and the night time activities. The draggin’ competition started at 9:00pm, which made the sparks that much brighter. The competition had 10-12 trucks draggin’ and one Honda. They made at least 4 passes each down the strip, with the highlight being when a Mr. Scrape truck drug backwards.
Sunday brought around another warm day, and also trophies. Scrapin’ the Smokies is planning on making a return next year, but at a different location. They will move up the road 8 exits which will give them more space and fewer rules. Scrapin’ the Smokies was an awesome first time show and it will be good to see the smokies get lit up again next year.
