21st Annual Spring Break Nationals "The World's Most Famous Soundoff" was held March 23rd thru 25th 2007 In Daytona Beach, Florida. Unfortunately I didn’t get to attend the show all three days due to actually having a full time job in another field. But that doesn’t stop my passion for the show scene and for photography. So as soon as I was able to leave work Saturday afternoon I cruised on down to Daytona and was there for Saturday night and all day Sunday. And let me tell you the time there was very well spent. Between all the hot stuff at the show and with it still being spring break there were tons of people out and lots of nice rides cruising up and down the strip.
After cruising around a little I finally decided it was time to go to the hotel and check in and get unpacked. As I step foot out of the hotel room front door to my surprise I found a parking lot full of muscle, cars hot rods, and even a few mini trucks. So that’s where I headed. There was a bunch of us all just hanging out there until we were just about the last ones there and even the cops left. After that I decided why not bring the party back to my room. Not thinking about having to get up early in the morning to go to the show or anything …. Right !? So between Bacardi 151, shots of Patron on, lemon drops, some beer, and who knows what else, we all partied it up nicely until like 3am and by then everyone decided it was time to leave and or crash.
Now having a check out time of 10AM really sucked that made me up at 8:30 due to having a room full of girls that would take forever in getting ready. Yeah you read right me and a room full of girls. But that’s beside the point... ;) After a quick McDonalds breakfast it was off to the show. When I finally got to there to no surprise there were some of the sickest rides in the entire show scene there. You can defiantly tell these audio guys go the extra mile with some of their rides. From body dropped mini trucks on 22’s, to cars that drive with joy sticks, and even SUV’s with more speakers and TV’s then you can count on both hands and feet. There was so much custom fiberglass work in some these rides I wouldn’t doubt they would float if they were thrown in some water. This show had a little bit of everything for everyone.
I did take the time out on Sunday to sit and chat with Bobby from Audio Nutz out of Ocala, Fl. This show was his 1st show in over a year and a half, while he was rebuilding his ’97 S10. From a quick glance the truck looked the same as it did before. But taking the time to talk to him made me realize there was more new then old. He took out the little four banger and replaced it with a beefy small block 350. Body Dropped the Truck 3 ¼ inches and also redid all of his interior and the inside bed too. The best part of this all is he did almost all of this work on his own with the exception of having the cab body dropped by Flawless Fabrications from Georgia. His truck ended up placing 1st in the MiniTruckin class and also won Best of Show, not bad for its 1st show back. All in all this truck is defiantly going to be a show stopper. And rumor has it that it has already been shot for a few magazines this maybe his 7th & 8th features! And he’s still not 100% done with it. I can’t wait to see what else he does.
All in all the time was very well spent and I defiantly enjoyed every minute spent down in Daytona with the hot sun, rides, and women. I mean really what more can you ask for??? There is no doubt in my mind I will be back to this show once again next year.
Until the next event….
