Unite 2007

Coverage and Photos by: Rigo

Hosted by HotRidesMag.Com

This is the birth of what I see becoming one of the top 5, if not the best show of the year. The venue was unfortunately affected by the local fires surrounding the towns around Live Oak, but to all that missed it, you should be kicking yourselves for not coming.

“People had fears of Unite going up in flames, but instead we rose from the ashes like a phoenix.” –Mr. Lee

The show was held in the Suwannee River Music Park which had its own restaurant, convenient store, night club, golf cart rentals (RIP #6), camp sites, cabins, and a nice river to go swimming in as well. Due to this, partying could be kept on site and minimized any harassment from local and state police. I can not think of a better place to spend a great show weekend!

The HotRidesMag.Com staff had more in mind then just your average show. Proof was on the sign that everyone saw as you drove into the show grounds, “Welcome to UNITE Trophy Chasers go home!”(The sign was stolen from the show, and now has been claimed by Freak’s Of Nature. They promised to bring it back next year though). Lee’s vision of UNITE encompasses what the name defines, an event to unify who we are, what we breathe, the vision of our dreams and what flows through our veins. All of this compiled into one fun filled weekend where trophies were of no concern. While this year did include certain types of trophies, the judging was handled solely by registered participants. This provided a chance for the show goers to voice their opinions on what they felt was the best vehicle in a particular class.

Even for being UNITE’s first show, people came from as far as MS, GA, AL, KY, TN, SC, NC, and all over FL, not including individuals from many other states which I did not have a chance to talk to. Due to the strong showing of past featured vehicles, along with a few cover trucks, this should provide for a very successful future. Many of the up and coming vehicles, along with those being under construction provide for a great insight into the future of the show also. Hottest ride of the show went to Bobby, a member of AcrophobiA, and his 1997 Chevrolet S10 with a fresh body drop on 22’s with new interior and paint scheme.

The dates for the 2008 show have been set for May 17th and 18th. Rumor has it that cabins are already being booked for next year’s show….this is definitely one not to miss!!!!!
